For over four year the Executives of the Sierra Leone Football Association and the membership has been at loggerheads with no sign of ending the vicious circle.
There have been accusations and counter accusations at the detriment of the country’s football sector, despite efforts by the government and other stakeholders to settle the internal dispute destroying football and other sporting events in the country.
Sanusi Bruski Kargbo has on Friday declares his intention to vie for the presidency of the Sierra Leone Football Association at the Freetown Amusement Park.
Over 10,000 football fanatics including stakeholders from the four regions were in attendance to give their unflinching supports to the Chairman of East End Lions to succeed the embattled Isha Johansen.
Isha Johansen – is popularly known as the “Iron Lady”; and CAF referred to her as a “Champion”; the former FIFA President hailed her as a “Warrior”, whilst Forbes Magazine named Isha Johansen as one of the twelve women to “watch out for in 2017”.
It is quite astounding and one can only but marvel at how this Sierra Leonean woman through football, has meteorised onto the global stage – wooing Royalty, Heads of States, and high profile international personalities.
One of Africa’s greatest footballers of his time–The legendary Sierra Leone Centre Forward of the 1960s and 70s, King Kama Dumbuya–died in Freetown yesterday after a short illness.
If Kama Dumbuya had been young in this age when European and American soccer thrive on the back of excellent contribution from African players, there is no reason why he would not have become a millionaire because leading clubs abroad would have splashed the cash to utilize his goal-scoring knack. He was a goal merchant, whose ability to mesmerize defences and score was phenomenal. He scored against most of the African teams that played against Sierra Leone.
