His words came during a National Commission for Privatization (NCP) engagement with staff and management of the National Insurance Company (NIC) on expanding the market space of the company, capacity building of staff and ensuring effective and efficient service delivery mechanisms that will better position the company as the most reliable and trusted indigenous insurance company.
Speaking on the operations of NIC, the Managing Director, Abdul Kargbo congratulated NCP’s Chairman, Alhaji Fanday Turay on his appointment and thanked him for his leadership which has provided the platform for better future of public enterprises in Sierra Leone.
The MD pointed out that the status of the NIC when he took over was really embarrassing due to several inter-relating factors which had to do with complacency on the part of the previous administration. “However, as management, we have put in place stringent measures by building a robust team to respond to the managerial and operational demands of the Company’
Responding, the NPC Chairman Fanday Turay welcomed staff of the National Insurance Company and cautioned them to operate meticulously focusing on expanding the company’s market scope with ensuring customer satisfaction. ‘’I do understand that there are existing challenges but as a responsible management, it’s optimal to adopt strategic roadmap to address these challenges. The target is to manage the NIC in a way that it provides job opportunities for competent and qualified Sierra Leoneans with emphasis on young men and women’’
He expressed optimism for a better working relationship between the National Commission for Privatization and the National Commission for Privatization and the National Insurance Company and admonished staff to work together as a team for proper coordination so that positive results are visible and consistent. He further emphasized on the urgent need to improve staff performance which has great impact on the general performance of the company.
NCP’s Executive Secretary, Josephine Ansumana called on the company to work within timeline and ensure that all procedures are appropriately followed. She reassured the company, the commitment of the commission in providing the necessary guidelines to making the company a better option in the insurance market.
The two institutions are on equal path in energizing the nation’s insurance company through providing quality service delivery, effective and conducive Claims Processing platform through digital space, creating investment opportunities which provide financial stability that will effectively contribute towards national economic development.
