The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has appointed former Ghana Black Stars Coach Sellas Tetteh to manange the country's national senior male football squad Leone Stars.
SLFA in a press statement said after thorough interview process by the association's Head Coach Recruitment Committee and based on scores earned by the various candidates, the Executive Committee of the Football Association wishes to announce to the general public and the football family the appointment of Sellas Tetteh Teivi as the Head Coach of the National Senior Team (Leone Stars).
Sellas who is already in Freetown is expected to start work with the next 48 hours with up to fifty players who have been undergoing training at the Football Academy under the supervision of the Technical Director Jebbor Sherrington.
The coach who had a short spell with the national squad around 2016 is returning to a familiar territory with a responsibility to appoint his own backroom staff.

Public Relations Officer Alfred Terry of the Sierra Leone Gymnastics Federation has revealed to this medium that, a total of four boys are preparing for the annual International Chamber of Commerce competitions in China.
Alfred Terry confirmed that the boys are expected to leave the shores of Sierra Leone for Beijing later this month to participate in the entertainment category of the upcoming event.

Spanish authorities are looking for two 14-year-olds from Sierra Leone who disappeared after competing in a junior soccer competition in the Basque city of San Sebastián. The two had traveled to the northern city in early July to compete in the 28th Donosti Cup as members of the Diamond Child soccer team from Sierra Leone.
But on July 13, when it came time to fly back to Freetown, they escaped through a window in the middle of the night and disappeared. The minors, who have no money or contacts in the region, have not been seen since, according to the security department of the Basque regional government.

The President/CEO of Sierra Leone Gymnastics Federation is calling on the government and other interested organizations to enable her federation establish a better training facility which she hopes to turn into a gymnastics academy. Madam Anna Williams explained to AYV Sports that currently the training facility that the federation is using is not conducive and lacks the required equipment which she added is discouraging potential gymnastics to shy away from signing up for training.

On Saturday 22nd June 2019, the British High Commission in Freetown in partnership with the Ministries of Sport and Education, and UNICEF Sierra Leone hosted the first soccer aid gala match in Freetown.
The matches took place in celebration of the Soccer Aid appeal, which is raising funds to help children in Sierra Leone have a better start in life. The UK government is matching donations to the appeal made before 23 July up to £3 million.
After Dock Cannon Exclavate and Red Flames met in the fifth game series finals in the ongoing Western Area Basketball Association tournament at the Siaka Stevens Stadium Basketball court in Freetown on Sunday 30th June, 2019, bad weather caused the tournament to end without any winner in this year’s WABA championship.
Both Red Flames and Dock Cannon Exclavate came into the fifth game series finals from their previously two games win respectively. When the fifth game series commenced, it was a tense battle between the two basketball clubs.
