The Minister of Energy, Amb. Henry Olufumi Macauley today signed a Compact with the UK Government through the Minister of State for DFID, the Right Honourable Grant Shappes, at the Facebook Headquarters in London.
The Minister of Information and Communications Honourable Alhaji Alpha B S Kanu (first from right, front row in photo) has commended staff of the Legal Aid Board for the tremendous work they have been doing in providing legal aid for the less privileged who cannot afford the cost of hiring a lawyer to represent them in a court of law. The need for a Regional Approach to end the Ebola Fight is one of the key messages of President Ernest Bai Koroma to the People of Port Loko during his most recent Social mobilisation visits to the District. The President was in the District Headquarter of Port Loko to thank all those that have contributed to what can now be referred as the apparent victory over the dreadful Ebola disease. Appealing for compliance to the Ebola Bye Laws, cautioning against complacency, warning against stigmatisation and drumming support for the Ebola Survivors, were some of the other themes the President based his address.
There has been some controversies surrounding an alleged rape case of a five-year old girl whose matter is yet to be charged to court even after police investigation by the Family Support Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Sierra Leone Police .
The presiding Magistrate of court No.1 in Freetown, Magistrate Kombis Kamanda has on Thursday 22 October 2015 remanded eight sacked police officers at the Sierra Leone Male and Female Correctional centres at Pademba road and Jomokenyyata road in Freetown for the offence of Manslaughter.
