Shani Cooper is the new Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone
The State of Israel has appointed Shani Cooper as the new Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Cooper replaces Ami Mehl who ended his term of service in July 2018. A statement signed by the Israeli Embassy in Accra said Ambassador Cooper comes to Ghana with twelve years of diplomatic experience having served in Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey and Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Fishing has been a lucrative trade across the globe. It is being argued that Sierra Leone does not enjoy this global phenomenon in the fishing industry despite huge government investment to make the sector profitable.
Fish is a precious common food in Sierra Leone. During the rainy season in places like Kambia, for instance, many fishermen engage in shrimps fishing which is widely believed to be profitable but a difficult trade.

A number of tribal chiefs, representatives of the Slum Dwellers Association and traders recently received local tax booklets from the Freetown City Council Mayor at a ceremony held in her parlor in Freetown.
Addressing the stakeholders, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyer spoke on a range of issues bordering on payment and collection of local tax obligations. She also explained that payment of local tax assists the FCC in executing its mandate which is to provide social amenities, schools, housing among other obligations for the citizens of Freetown.

On April 6, 2018, just two days after his swearing in, President Julius Maada Bio followed in the footsteps of his predecessor and established a Governance Transition Team (GTT) with a four-pronged mandate to “serve as focal point for the interface with the out-going APC government”; “conduct an immediate stock-taking exercise”; “submit an overview of the current state of affairs”; and “submit a comprehensive report” on the GTT’s findings.

“We are working on the health services which regards to better clinical services; provision of tertiary hospitals and more secondary hospitals in the primary health care units. The free health care initially started with lactating mothers, pregnant women and children under five years old. This service will now be expanded to include Ebola survivors and other disadvantaged groups like amputees, disabled and suchlike affected people.”

Usually reliable sources at the Sierra Leone Foreign Ministry in Freetown have told AYV that the new Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Francis Kaikai, has arrived in New York to take up his new assignment.
Before his appointment to his new job, Dr. Kaikai was the Chief /Principal Civil Affairs at the United Nations Mission in Liberia. In that capacity, he was Chief Adviser and Head of the Peace Consolidation Services Section of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).
Accused person Dauda Sesay who allegedly killed his biological mother at Grafton in the outskirt of Freetown told police that he stabbed his mother, Yeali Sesay four times before she finally succumbed to the cold hands of death.
The accused person has made several appearances before Hon. Justice John Bosco Allieu of the High Court of Sierra Leone for the offence of Murder, contrary to law.
