One of the world’s leading Non-Governmental Organizations operating in Sierra Leone and other parts of the world, Solidaridad West Africa Sierra Leone, past Friday 5th October, 2018 donated dozens of brand new Life Jackets to residents of Muala town in the Barri chiefdom, Pujehun district.
The jackets are meant to provide safety to the thousands of people crossing the Muala river leading to Gourfor, Furor, Jendema and Zimmi along the Sierra Leone Liberia highway on a daily basis.
The Board of Directors at Campaign for Good Governance has appointed Marcella Samba Sesay as the new Executive Director of CGG. She is taking over from Ms Valnora Edwin who stepped down in July after 18 years of service to CGG. Mrs Samba Sesay before assuming this office was the Director of Programmmes at CGG and has worked tirelessly for the success of CGG since her joining the organization in 2003. The Executive Director of the Legal Aid Board, Ms. Fatmata Claire Carlton-Hanciles has hailed the decision of two Justices of the Peace, Reverend Canon Julius J. Coker and Festus B. Graham for expressing interest in working with Board as volunteers.

Director of Operations at the Sierra Leone Police – Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Elizabeth Augusta Turay, has confirmed that the Regional Commander for the North-West – AIG Amos Kargbo has been suspended due to neglect of duty.
She said the suspended police commander is going to be investigated by the Complaint Discipline Internal Investigations Department (CDIID) of the police.

Making his presentation on behalf of Statistics Sierra Leone (SSL) during the just-concluded 2018-2019 Bilateral Budget Discussion at the Sierra Leone Bank Complex, Kingtom in Freetown on 26th September 2018, Statistics Sierra Leone (SSL) Statistician General, Professor Osman Sankoh, informed his audience that the SSL is doing all it can to provide a credible data system for national development. He pledged that the SSL can do this with support from the government and called on the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to assist the SSL do this by providing timely budgetary allocations.
The Government of Sierra Leone and the World Bank have both signed a $22 million project which aims at providing the necessary skills to youth so that they can be gainfully employed.
