Santigie Bangura adjudicating over the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 at Siaka Steven Street has kept one Emmanuel Bobson Nylenda at the Male Correctional Centre at Pademba Road for human trafficking.

Emmanuel Bobson Nylenda is alleged to have trafficked nine Sierra Leoneans to Italy via the Republic of Guinea, and he is also said to have told police that the nine Sierra Leoneans in question had died in a road accident, while they were travelling to Italy way back in 2017.

When the matter came up for hearing on Thursday 23 August, 2018, counsel for the accused person Musa Beretay canvassed the presiding magistrate for a subpoena to be served on one of the investigating police officers attached to the Transnational Organized Crime Unit headquarter at Hastings.

He went further to renew his application for bail on behalf of his client. However, the presiding magistrate denied the accused person Emmanuel Bobson Nylenda bail and ordered that he be remanded at the country’s correctional centre.

The defendants were represented by barrister Musa Pious Hemoh Sesay. Magistrate Santigie Bangura adjourned the matter to Monday 27 August 2018.
