Swadu Natasha Beckley: Former Miss Sierra Leone

By Mohamed Kai

Sierra Leonean US-based charismatic pageant queen, Swadu Natasha Beckley who was crowned Miss Africa - USA in 2010 and Miss Sierra Leone in 2011 is currently being investigated by the Economic and Financial Fraud Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarter in Freetown for allegedly defrauding Miss Universe, Adama Lakoh Kargbo monies amounting to thousands of United State dollars.

This was according to the Head of the Economic and Financial Fraud Unit, Augustine Mansaray who spoke to this reporter yesterday 27th November, 2017 in Freetown.

Mr. Mansaray confirmed that his unit is currently investigating Natasha and had obtained statement from her in respect of an allegation levied against her by Adama Lakoh Kargbo.

Speaking to AYV newspaper yesterday, Adama said she is a student of the Limkokwing University and that he won the just concluded Miss Universe Beauty Pageantry that was held in Freetown.

She said after winning the contest, Swadu Natasha Beckley approached her and offered to be her sponsor for the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant that was scheduled to be held on 26th November 2017 in Las Vegas, United State of America.

She alleged that after collecting thousands of dollars on her behalf for the contest, Natasha refused to get back to her but decided to hold on to the monies thereby depriving her of partaking in the Las Vegas show.

Adama said she exhausted all avenues to get her money from Natasha but that all efforts proved futile so she decided to report the matter to the Economic and Financial Fraud Unit of the CID.

Natasha was invited by the CID, questioned and granted police bail few hours later after the intervention of the former Adviser to President Ernest Bai Koroma, Hon. Alhaji Alpha Kanu.

It can be recalled that Swadu Natasha Beckley is one of those aspiring for a parliamentary seat symbol for the All People’s Congress (APC) Party for Port Loko district in the northern part of Sierra Leone.

All attempts to reach Natasha for her comment proved futile but this medium stands ready to publish her side of the story should she wish to do so on our subsequent editions.
