The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has warned people who are going about impersonating that they are staff of the Commission.

The warning was issued in a press release issued yesterday 17th October, 2017 where the Commission stated that its attention has been drawn to an alert that certain individuals are in the habit of making phone calls to people presenting themselves as senior staff of the Commission.

The Commission informed the general public that at no time had the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Directors or any staff of the Commission made any call threatening, demanding or soliciting any favour from any individual.

The release stated thus: “The public is therefore advised to report any act of threat, extortion, demand or blackmail to the ACC (free phone lines-Airtel 161 or 077-985-985) or the nearest police station”.

By this notice, the Commission wants all and any person (s) engaged in the impersonation of any ACC staff are warned to desist forthwith as it constitutes an offence under section 76 of the Anti-Corruption Act 2008.

The public is reminded that impostors have been prosecuted and convicted in the High Court of Sierra Leone and the Commission will continue to do so, as and when the need arises.

The ACC reassured the general public of its continued commitment to the fight against corruption in Sierra Leone.
