According to one of the volunteers, James Hassan Kawuta Bangura who claimed to be the mouthpiece for volunteers disclosed that they started providing volunteer s services to the nation on 14 Monday August 2017, up to Thursday 17th August 2017.
He went on to state that they totally abandoned their families and gave up themselves to the call by the nation for voluntary services, and that most of them were without proper personal protective equipments to keep them safe.
James Kawuta Bangura complained that the supply of food to them was also a very serious problem, except they had to call their relatives to bring food them.
He further disclosed that after the mass burial at Waterloo in the outskirt of Freetown, they informed by the deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation, Madam Madina Rahman, that they should all report at the Connaught hospital the following morning, but that to their greatest surprise, when they converged at the Connaught hospital the following morning, the deputy minister of health and sanitation was nowhere to be seen.
He said that they also contacted some authorities at the Connaught hospital, but that they were shunned and ignored. Owing to that the numerous volunteers called on the government and other humanitarian agencies to come to their aid, as they were vulnerable and prone to any disease outbreak in the country.
