Sesay spoke on Wednesday, 17th May, 2017, during a presentation ceremony of scholarships, worth millions of Leones, to eighteen deserving students of the Binkolo Catholic Secondary School, Safroko Limba Chiefdom. The offering of such scholarships, he said, was based on an attempt aimed at inspiring today’s generation to give concrete action towards their education, by working hard.
Speaking in Binkolo whilst making the presentation to the students, Mr. Sesay underscored the importance of education, also calling on the students especially the girl child to keep working hard for a better tomorrow.
“I know there are challenges and I do know what it means walking daily from far away villages to Binkolo. But that is the sacrifice you pay today for a better tomorrow," he said, pleading with the 18 beneficiaries to not disappoint themselves and their parents, but to work hard and justify the awards.
Sesay commended government’s development efforts, calling on people to also see the need to be part of what government has been doing by giving whatever little contribution they could in various ways.
Principal of the Junior Secondary School, Mr. Desmond Sorie Bondi, whilst speaking on behalf of the Board of Governors, teachers and students of the school, thanked Mr. Sesay for what he called “a laudable” effort, also encouraging students to continue to work hard.
Also speaking were a representative of the Paramount Chief, a Councilor and religious leaders, all paying tribute to the efforts of John Baimba Sesay, hoping, others will emulate same for the good of the chiefdom.
