The new Chief Scout Elect, Madam Salamatu Foulamatu Dumbuya of the North – West Region has assured members of the Sierra Leone Scout Association that she would endeavor to take scouting to all the regions in the country.

Green Scenery Sierra Leone has observed their establishment day, a story starting on the 20th of October 1989, which was thirty years ago. The Executive Director, Joseph Rahall, said: “I never imagined that Project Green Scenery (PGS) would transform into Green Scenery and come this far.”
A bill entitled ‘The Public Order (Amendment) Act, 2019’ has been gazetted. It seeks to “amend the Public Order Act, 1965 (Act No. 46 of 1965) by repealing Part V which deals with defamatory and seditious libel and to provide for other related matters.’ This followed Cabinet’s approval to repeal same. The next destination in the repeal process is Parliament.

The Old Edwardians Football Club and its Executive has announced the death of their Technical Director Derick Boyson.
According to the Club Secretary Amidu Koroma, Boison had a heart failure and was admitted at the Counnaught Hospital. After a series of treatments at the hospital, he was later discharged and was going for daily check-up.
Coach Derick Boyson passed away at his residence at Rock Lane, Brookfields in Freetown. Amidu Koroma further told AYV that the funeral is expected to be on 17th November but he is yet to confirm this from the family of the late man.
The Executive of East End Lions Football Club has officially appointed Alhaji Alpha Rashid as the Assistant Team Manager 2. Alpha Rashid was the chairman of the East End Lions Fan Club and has served in that capacity for over two years. Rashid took over the chairmanship position of East End Lions Fan Club from Mr. Abdul Karim Kargbo who is the current Administrative Secretary for the club.
After his appointment by the chairman Anthony Navo Jr. and the Executive, Mr. Alpha Rashid appreciated the club for his new assignment. He further thanked the Club Chairman and the Executive for giving him the opportunity to work with them especially to serve as the Second Assistant Team Manager.
Reflecting on his previous position, he congratulated and welcomed Dr. Tabitha Kamara as his successor to current club chairman. He said he believes that during their time they were able to win the 2019 Sierra Leone Premier League with an unbeaten record. He called on all supporters and keen followers of the club to continue their unflinching support to the club for the upcoming Sierra Leone Premier League.
Sierra Leone Aid Initiative (SLAI) has donated school and learning materials, including core subject text books and school bags to pupils in Grafton, Makeni and Freetown on 7th and 13th September, 2019 respectively.

Sierra Leone match against Lesotho in the Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Freetown on the 13th November will be the first time the two countries are facing each other in an official match.
The Crocodiles of Lesotho have never qualified for the African Cup of Nations and they are currently ranked 138 while Sierra Leone has qualified twice in 1994 and 1996, but are yet to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
As part of the Leone Stars preparations for the match ahead against Lesotho, the technical team has been engaging the boys on friendly matches with some clubs in the country. Two warm-up matches with the home-based national team have been played at the Kingtom Academy in Freetown. The first matches saw Leone Stars being held to a one all draw with East End Tigers Football Club and a one nil victory against second division side PS Zizo Foundation on the same day.
Assistant Coach II Amidu Karim told AYV that they are still working on the fitness of the boys which is why they are engaging them on friendly matches. He further said by the weekend they are travelling to Kono to battle with Diamond Stars and other teams.
However, sources close to the FA confirmed to this medium that the technical team is headed by Coach Sellas Tetteh and he has submitted a list of fifteen foreign-based players to be invited.
The Sierra Leone Handball Association has concluded their week-long International Handball Federation License ‘D’ Coaching Course. Twenty two local handball coaches were selected across the country for as a way to capacitate their coaching skills in the discipline.
Wolfgang Lowak is an international Handball coach form Germany. Whilst addressing the participants, he cautioned them to take the course seriously to push the game of Handball and in turn help identify Handball players to form a stronger national team.
In admonishing the coaches during the closing ceremony, Lamin Sesay is the deputy Director of Sports. He noted that to receive the certificate is one thing but it should not be swept under the carpet. He called on the coaches to form Handball teams in their various communities for the sport to grow in the country.
The certification ceremony ended with distribution of certificates and license to the twenty two participants.
Report reaching AYV states that the Assistant Coach for the national team Leone Stars; Musa Kallon and Leone Stars Welfare Officer Junior Lawson have been sent on indefinite suspension after the two went into blows during a training session. The act by both officials of the national team came as a surprise to many fans.
The incident happened during the national home-based football training for the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, at the Sierra Leone Football Association Academy at Kingtom.
According to Ibrahim Kamara, the media contact for the Sierra Leone Football Association, the two have been suspended indefinitely and the FA will set up an investigating committee to probe into the professional misconduct of the two men and present its findings in a report to the FA.
According to Musa Kallon in a phone interview with AYV, the decision by the FA to suspend them is unfortunate. He also said that his suspension was single-handedly done by Christopher Kamara the General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association.
However, Leone Stars will engage Lesotho at home on the 13th November in the Cameroon 2021 African Cup of Nations. The match will be played behind closed doors due to the ban Sierra Leone faces after the Liberia match in Freetown.
