The Board expressed its deep gratitude to Interim President Kristalina Georgieva for her dedication and leadership in recent months. The Executive Directors followed the selection process agreed in 2011. The process included an open, transparent nomination where any national of the Bank’s membership could be proposed by any Executive Director or Governor through an Executive Director.

The UK Department for International Trade has hosted a panel discussion for visitors to the biggest mining conference in Africa, Mining Indaba, who were invited to an industry dialogue between key figures in mining, agriculture, finance and government.

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has held a two days regional consultative session with stakeholders in the intelligence services.
The session which was geared towards mapping out ways of building on security in the ECOWAS region was held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown.

Samir Hassanyeh has emerged winner of the Lebanese Community presidential election held on Sunday 11th November, 2018 at the YSC (Young Sportsmen Complex) on Wilkinson Road in Freetown. Mr. Hassanyeh defeated a rival camp headed by Ali Ibrahim Basma.
Mr. Hassanyeh’s camp won thirteen out of the seventeen member Electoral College. His main challenger, Ali Basma conceded defeat after the result was announced and congratulated him and promised to work with him.

But since the renovation of the country’s main sports centre (Siaka Stevens Stadium)the Game Basketball has been dormant across the country. So, I ask, is the game Basketball going wait and dead before the playing court at the Siaka Stevens Stadium open? What are authorities who are in charge of the game doing to revive basketball once again in the country, after the renovations of the playing court? I hope they will put motilities in place before the end of the year of 2017.
A Sierra Leonean Hollywood Actor Idris Akuna Elba last evening of 23rd October, 2017 hosted the 2017 Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in London.
Elba, who played Nelson Mandela in the 2013 film "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" and won a Golden Globe in 2012 for his titular role in the TV detective show "Luther," hosted the ceremony at the London Palladium.

The game Roll ball is a new sport in Sierra Leone, the game stated in the country some two years ago. The Sierra Leone National Roll Ball Team has participated ones in the just concluded Roll Ball Championship in Bangladesh. But interestingly, Roll Ball is a sport similar to basketball or handball that is played on inline roller skates. The play consists of two teams of six players each, five field players and a goal tender.
Players move toward the goal while dribbling or passing a ball similar to a basketball, with the aim of throwing the ball into a goal at each end of the field.
