Police have confirmed that three school authorities from various schools in the country have been arrested for extorting money from parents for admission of their children and other charges even though a moratorium is in force against such payments.
Briefing journalists at Police Headquarters on George Street, the Director of Operations, Assistant Inspector General of Police Augusta said despite the efforts of the president to provide give free quality education, some school authorities are still bent on extorting money from parents which she described as undermining the much-appreciated presidential initiative.
Staff at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, instituted a strike action on Monday over non-payment of backlog salaries and poor working conditions. The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Anthony Brewah has described the just concluded National Cleaning Exercise held on Saturday, 1st September, 2018 as impressive. Bollore Transport and Logistics, a renowned port handler in France with branches across the globe, has fully completed work on the 270 meter container terminal extension at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay in Freetown.

Three alleged murders have been detained at the maximum state detention centre in the western part of Freetown by Hon. Justice John Bosco Allieu presiding over the High Court of Sierra Leone, for committing capital offense, contrary to law.

The Infectious Disease Prevention Centre at 34 Military Barracks, built with support from the Chinese government, has commenced full operation to the public beginning August 22.
In July this year, the facility was jointly commissioned by President Julius Maada Bio and Chinese Ambassador WU Peng to deal with an emergency disease outbreak in an auspicious occasion held at the Wilberforce military barracks, attended by local and foreign dignitaries.
